Progress on planned upgrade to Osberstown Waste Water Treatment Plant

Clane Area Committee Meeting

11 March 2014

Councillor Pádraig McEvoy

Can the council provide an update on the upgrade to the Osberstown Waste Water Treatment Plant and the network to service the Clane and Prosperous areas?

The upgrade of Osberstown Waste Water Treatment Works forms part of the Upper Liffey Valley Regional Sewerage Scheme which is to be funded by Irish Water. Tenders for the upgrade works have been received and a Tender Assessment Report has been prepared and forwarded to Irish Water for approval. It is anticipated that construction of the Waste Water Treatment Works upgrade will begin in Quarter 2 / Quarter 3 2014 subject to necessary approvals and funding. The Waste Water Treatment Works Contract is due to have a 26 month construction period, with a 12 month process proving period.

Contract 2B (Network to service Clane and Prosperous): Improvements to the network to service Clane are included in the Upper Liffey Valley Regional Sewerage Scheme Contract 2B, which is now being advanced on behalf of Irish Water. This Contract is at planning and design stage.
