Political Independence
As an Independent candidate in the Local Elections, I am seeking to ensure that Kildare County Council and the new Maynooth Municipal District continue to benefit from community-based representation. I believe that party allegiances can be unnecessarily divisive at community level. My objective is to put local people first – by independently pursuing the community’s needs without being silenced by party-whip politics – while seeking co‑operation on the issues with other elected representatives.

Background
Born in Clane, I attended Scoil Phádraig B.N.S. and Scoil Mhuire Community School before developing a career as an engineer researching communications and medical devices. Having spent 10 years abroad, I currently work with Dublin Institute of Technology. My business expertise includes large-scale high-tech manufacturing and finding workable solutions to complex challenges.

Community Activism
My family’s interest in volunteer community development led to my running for the Council after my father Tony completed two elected terms. Since first elected to Kildare County Council in 2009, I have been privileged to work with residents groups, access groups, community councils, Tidy Towns, community games, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Friends of Donadea Forest and the Le Chéile community magazine. As a Peace Commissioner, I can be contacted about signing statutory declarations.

Track Record
During my term as a Councillor, I contributed to County Kildare Fáilte on tourism development; to the County Kildare Joint Policing Committee on crime prevention and family supports; to the Transportation, Safety and Emergency Services Strategic Policy Committee on sustainability; to the Local Rural Water Monitoring Committee on infrastructure and public health; and to the Mid-East Regional Authority on planning and on broader economic development policies.

When making development plans, I advocated for suitable policies to eliminate excessive zoning and to allow for appropriate development in serviced areas. I have opposed unjustified spending and also addressed local issues on flood alleviation, housing and the taking-in-charge of estates, youth services, anti-social behaviour, environmental management and heritage conservation.

Commitment
If elected on May 23, I will continue to campaign for the best possible service with the available budgets. I will also continue to reallocate my travel expenses to worthy projects supported by Kildare County Council.

Your Vote
As an Independent candidate, I hope to further deliver on work that I have started and I ask for your 1st preference vote to help get re-elected.
