- Income

Councillors are paid an income that is taxed as part of their overall income. I use the net salary towards costs that include car fuel, planning submissions, stationary, mobile phone, etc. The mobile expenditure is subsidized by an allowance and the Council facilitates elected members to minimise expense using the corporate phone scheme.

Given the economic decline, I chose not to take the expenses allocations that are set to cover travel costs to the meetings. I’ve asked the Council to allocate these to worthy projects and the balance has been absorbed back into the costs of delivering other services. I will publish details of the projects here in due course.
